“Brighton College Chose Madrid Because It Is a Vibrant and International City”

Brighton College Madrid has been featured in La Razón in an interview with George Hartley, Founding Head of the Madrid school, discussing the school’s plans for its 2027 opening and the educational experience it will offer.

The article reports that Brighton College Madrid expects to welcome 160–180 pupils in its first year, with more than 500 enquiries already received and around 200 families registered for information about admissions. Once fully operational, the school expects to accommodate around 850 pupils aged 3 to 18.

The new four-storey campus in Aravaca will bring together pupils from Nursery through Secondary School, with facilities for science, robotics, art, music, dance and sport. The school will also introduce Brighton College’s House system, creating smaller communities within the wider school and encouraging belonging, mentorship and participation.

A distinctive feature of the Madrid curriculum will be “Story of Our Land”, combining Spanish history and geography. The article also explains that technology will be used selectively, with a strong emphasis on reading, handwriting and interaction between teachers and pupils, while programming and AI will form part of the curriculum.

Hartley explains that Madrid was chosen because of its international character, growth, cultural environment and strong demand for British education.
