At Brighton College Madrid, pupils will begin the task of discovering where life will take them.

Our supportive community will ensure that pupils flourish in their chosen academic subjects, take advantage of the many opportunities on offer and are supported every step of the way.

A culture of kindness will be at the heart of a Brighton College Madrid education - all pupils are treated as individuals, will be encouraged to respect each other, and nurtured to become the best version of themselves.

We know that young people who are happy are young people who thrive. We believe the best way of achieving a happy and content community is to instil a culture of kindness, ensuring that everyone feels valued for who they truly are.

We want our pupils to be first-class versions of themselves, not second-class versions of someone else, and we place great emphasis on acceptance and mutual respect.

Our pupils know that there is a whole world beyond the classroom, and we encourage them to remember that they are a part of society, not apart from it.

We know the attitudes pupils develop at school will remain with them throughout their lives, and so we foster a culture in which our pupils appreciate their responsibility towards other members of society.

Pupils at Brighton College Madrid will lead the charge in the fight against climate change.

This means that sustainability is considered in every part of school life. It influences everything we bring into the school to function well, from energy and water to food and stationery, and what happens to all these items after we are finished with them. It guides the behaviours we all champion, from what we choose to eat to the clothes we wear and the actions we decide to take. It also steers the way we nurture well-rounded pupils, through the lessons we teach and the active lifestyles and diets we encourage.

 Yeho learning
who we are

Brighton College Madrid seeks to impart or provide:

  • a love of learning for its own sake;
  • a foundation of knowledge and body of skills with which to understand and question the world we live in and to prepare us, through an innovative approach to education, for the world we are likely to inhabit in the future;
  • an awareness of, and appreciation of, the spiritual dimension in our lives;
  • an enthusiasm for the world beyond the classroom – in particular, sport, music and the performing arts;
  • a respect for difference in others and a recognition that the efforts and achievements of every individual in our community are valued equally;
  • an awareness of the needs of others, and a firm belief that – whatever our age – we can make a difference, locally and globally, right now.

In short, we strive to turn out well-educated, tolerant and intellectually curious young adults who are ready to take a full, active and positive role in the life of our country and of our world.

Founded in 1845, Brighton College was the first independent school in East Sussex, occupying a significant place in the development of British education.

An early pioneer in teaching modern languages and science, Brighton College was the first to have a science laboratory, a school magazine and a gymnasium.

Brighton College has a long history of being innovative, with all Lower Sixth taking part in our Entrepreneurship Challenge, Year 9 studying Presentation Skills, and Years 7 and 8 learning Mandarin to offer pupils a more world centric view.
